Poland, Egypt poets set to visit Kol’s arts fest

Kolkata: International award-winning poets from Poland and Egypt will visit the city for the 1st edition of a multidisciplinary arts festival organised by the Yapanchitra Foundation and the Kolkata International Foundation for Arts, Literature and Culture. The festival brings international poetry recitations together with dance and dastangoi, interactive art workshops, film screenings, theatre performances and literary discussions, creating a shared platform for multiple art forms.Scheduled from Feb 26 to March 1, events will be held at the KIFALC Centre, Sisir Mancha and Nandan 3. A four-day annual art workshop will run throughout the festival, featuring artists such as Samir Aich and Sanatan Dinda. Prabal Kumar Basu, chairman of both organisations, said the aim is to break isolation between artistic domains and encourage interaction, exchange, and collaboration.

“We work within our respective domain in alienation. This festival aims to break that barrier. We are starting a monthly fellowship of Rs 5,000 for one year for an art practitioner,” Basu said. The festival will open with an inauguration and annual art exhibition at the KIFALC Centre, attended by cultural figures including Mallika Prasad, Jawhar Sircar, and Santanu Bose.
