Sarma said BJP is not concerned about the opposition parties, claiming in Marioni on the same day that the opposition has “no existence” in around 90 to 95 of Assam’s 126 seats. He added that BJP is unstoppable in the coming election and will form the govt comfortably. On former Assam Congress leader Bhupen Borh, Sarma said Borah will get a ticket from either Bihpuria or Ranganadi. In Assam, BJP is currently allied with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Bodoland People’s Front — the key allies. The All Parties Hill Leaders’ Conference (APHLC), led by retired IAS officer JI Kathar, may get a couple of seats in Karbi Anglong under an opposition seat-sharing arrangement. Sarma, however, said APHLC and its partners will be defeated in the hill district.
