SSC candidates get letters for new posts

Kolkata: The West Bengal Central School Service Commission on Tuesday started issuing ‘recommendation letters’ to selected candidates for assistant teachers’ posts for classes 9 and 10 in state-run schools. They will soon receive their appointment letters from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to join their new posts. This is part of the fresh teachers’ recruitment process for state schools after 26,000 teachers and staffers from the 2016 SSC panel lost their jobs following a Supreme Court order in the cash-for-jobs scam.

In the first phase on Tuesday and Wednesday, letters will be issued to 182 candidates, among whom 70 received theirs on Tuesday.Krishnavrittika Nath lost her job at a Raiganj school following the SC order and this time, she topped the exam. “I was thrilled the last time. But as I lost my job after working for eight years, I am a bit apprehensive this time. One good thing is I have got a posting near my home in North 24 Parganas,” she said. It was the first attempt by Rajarhat resident Nadera Kalam. “I am eagerly waiting for the appointment letter,” she said. Tamalika Karmakar, also a fresh candidate, said, “Those who lost their jobs should be re-employed along with freshers like us.”
