SAU opens admissions for 2026-27; starts 1-year PG prog

New Delhi: South Asian University (SAU) has opened an online application process for admissions to its undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes for the 2026-27 academic session, offering a total of 1,610 seats across disciplines. Applications can be submitted through the university’s official website till April 10, while entrance examinations are scheduled for April 25 and 26.SAU president Prof. K K Aggarwal said on Tuesday that the university will admit 780 students each to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, apart from 50 for PhD scholarships.The international university, established by Saarc member states, has introduced several new programmes this year. At the undergraduate level, BA LLB (hons) and BBA LLB (hons) have been launched. A new BA (hons) in media arts and design has also been introduced. At the postgraduate level, the university has added MA in journalism and digital media and MS in business analytics. New PhD programmes in management, climate change, English and chemistry have been launched.To align with India’s evolving higher education framework, the university has introduced a one-year master’s programme for students graduating under the four-year undergraduate programme. Students with a three-year undergraduate degree will continue to pursue a two-year master’s degree. Additionally, a quantum computing branch has been introduced within the B.Tech (CSE) programme. Admissions will be conducted through the university’s entrance examination as well as recognised national-level tests. In India, scores from CUET, JEE Main, CLAT, CAT, NET-JRF and NEET will be considered for respective programmes. For students from Saarc countries other than India, admissions will also consider Class XII board results.Prof. Pankaj Jain, academic vice-president, said the univ has established a Centre for Entrepreneurship, Training and Placements to enhance industry collaboration and improve students’ employability.
