Five awarded life imprisonment for killing youth

Kanpur: Additional district and sessions court/Special court (Dacoity) on Tuesday sentenced five people, including a father and his sons, to life imprisonment in connection with the killing of a youth and injuries to two of his brothers during an attack in Mawai village of the Rath area on November 27, 2021. The court also fined each of them Rs 9,000.The incident took place in Mawai village of the Rath area on November 27, 2021, when brothers working in a field were attacked with axes, sickles and sticks due to an old enmity. One youth was killed and two real brothers were injured.Additional district government counsel Manikaran Shukla said Chandrakaran, son of Bhagirath and a resident of Mawai village in the Rath area, filed a complaint at the police station on November 27, 2021 alleging that his brother Arjun, son of Bhagirath, and Dharampal and Sarovar, sons of Santram, lived in a house built in the field.He said that on the morning of November 27 at around 10 O’clock, Chandrakaran, his brother Braj Kishor and Ravindra, resident of Dhamna village, were going to take food to the brothers living in the field.Manikaran said that Dhirendra, son of Ram Kishori, Veer Singh, Arvind, Ram Bharat and his son Shatrughan, and Ram Kishori’s wife Sampatrani, all residents of the same village, attacked Arjun, Dharampal and Sarovar while they were working in the field, using axes, sticks and sickles. He said the attackers beat them and fled when Chandrakaran and his brother Ravindra challenged them.The injured, who were bleeding, were taken to hospital with police help, but Arjun died on the way. Dharampal and Sarovar were admitted to a hospital in Jhansi.Rath police registered a case against the accused under various sections, including murder, attempt to murder and rioting, based on Chandrakaran’s complaint, and filed a charge sheet in court.The hearing began in the court of an additional district and sessions judge. On February 21, special judge (Dacoity) Anil Kumar Kharwar, after hearing the prosecution’s arguments and examining the evidence, found Ram Kishori, her sons Dhirendra alias Dheer Singh, Veer Singh and Rambharat, and Rambharat’s son Shatrughan Singh guilty of murder and attempt to murder. Sampatrani was acquitted due to lack of evidence. Ram Kishori’s third son Arvind died during the hearing.After a hearing on Tuesday, the court sentenced the five accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 on them.
