Patna: NDA partner LJP(RV) has demanded appropriate action against those responsible for the police lathicharge on protesting chowkidars and dafadars in Patna on Monday.After the uproar in the legislative assembly over the issue earlier in the day, Union minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Tuesday condemned the police action.

The LJP(RV) chief said he will meet CM Nitish Kumar in this regard and urge him to take necessary steps to protect the livelihood, social security, and dignity of the chowkidars and dafadars.He said his party is serious about this matter and a delegation led by Jamui MP Arun Bharti will meet with deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who is also the state’s home minister, to address the chowkidars’ demands, permanently resolve service-related issues, and take action against the guilty officials.Chirag, in a social media post, justified their demands and stated that the chowkidars are the backbone of village security. Suppressing their voices through force is in no way sensitive, he said.According to the party’s state media in charge, Kundan Kumar, Chirag believes that it is the govt’s collective responsibility to secure the future of those who protect the villages.
