5-day youth exchange programme in Shillong concludes

Shillong: The five-day inter-state youth exchange programme (ISYEP), held from Feb 19 to 23 at the Youth Hostel in Shillong, enriched the experiences of young participants from the northeastern states.The programme was formally launched on Feb 20 at the Youth Hostel. Altogether, 37 youth took part, including 24 females and a 13-member male contingent from Mizoram who visited Meghalaya under the exchange initiative.“The youth exchange programme, organised by MY Bharat, Shillong, in collaboration with the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports and with active support from the directorate of sports and youth affairs, Meghalaya govt, concluded successfully on Monday with a valedictory function where certificates and mementos were distributed,” an official said.Over the course of five days, participants were introduced to Meghalaya’s rich history, culture, languages, customs, and food habits through presentations by resource persons. They also visited historical and significant sites in and around Shillong.The objective of the programme was to facilitate cultural exchange, enhance mutual understanding among youths of paired states, and strengthen national unity and integrity.In turn, a group of 37 participants from Meghalaya will visit Mizoram in March.
