Bhilwara: Doctors at the district hospital in Chittorgarh boycotted work for an hour Monday after family members of a patient who died during treatment allegedly misbehaved with a doctor late Sunday night.Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi said 65-year-old Ratanlal Gurjar was brought to the district hospital by his family members Sunday night over BP and sugar problems. He said Dr Manish was on duty in the emergency ward and, after examining the patient, admitted him to the male ward where treatment started.
Tripathi said Ratanlal’s condition suddenly deteriorated, after which the doctor shifted him to ICU ward and started treatment. The elderly man died at the ICU ward, after which his family members allegedly pushed and mishandled Dr Manish. Police reached the spot after being informed and pacified the family members through counselling, Tripathi said.On Monday, doctors boycotted work for an hour in phases, and also took out a protest rally to the district collectorate where they submitted a memorandum to the ADM demanding security. Doctors said that such incidents had created an atmosphere of fear and stress for doctors. Tripathi said no report was filed by any party and no case was registered.
