Delhi weather alert: Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms lashed most parts of Delhi today, 29 July 2025, bringing respite from a hot and humid weather that was prevailing in the national capital for the past few days. The IMD issued a weather alert for Delhi in response to the heavy rainfall forecast.

IMD issues RED alert in Delhi
Amid the Delhi weather alert, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the national capital till noon today.
The IMD said that Delhi recorded 8 mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday.
“Intense to very intense spells of rain very likely to continue over many parts of Delhi & NCR during next 1-2 Hrs,” the IMD said in an update at 9 am.
It issued a red alert in southeast and northeast NCR, and a ‘yellow’ alert in southwest and southeast parts of NCR.
The weather department further predicted winds gusting to 30-40 km/hr.
