Prayagraj: Agriculture and livestock compliment each other and for a systemic integration of the both, the database of animals and livestock owners is being compiled in Prayagraj district.Prayagraj’s chief veterinary officer Dr SN Yadav said that a database of animals and livestock owners is being prepared along with the livestock census. The information on every animal and livestock owner in the district will be collected on the departmental portal. Over 9 lakh animals and livestock owners in the district are being covered,.
Prayagraj has a good livestock population and to monitor the health of these animals and ensure the facilities provided by the govt, it was essential to create a database, said the official. The process of compilation of this database has started in the district.Yadav said that one employee in each village will be assigned the task of feeding the livestock data. The animal husbandry department’s livestock extension officers, secretaries and panchayat assistants posted in village panchayats will also be roped in the compilation.The employees will visit each livestock owner’s home to collect the complete details of their animals, their vaccinations, artificial insemination, or treatments, and upload them to the animal husbandry department’s National Digital Livestock Mission portal. Regular monitoring of data feeding will be done at the district and block levels. Along with agriculture, state govt is also focussing on enhancing animal husbandry and for that food-producing farmer and animal husbandry must be systematically integrated with agriculture, said the officials.
