Darbhanga: A series of programmes were organised on 101 Foundation Day of Darbhanga Medical College (DMC) on Monday. Besides an alumni meet, academic, cultural and alumni-focused programmes were held on the campus.Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha while addressing the inaugural session, exhorted that the DMC should take a lead role in emerging medical technologies, particularly the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and medical education.He said focused planning and high-quality leadership could help the college emerge as one of the country’s leading medical institutions.Speakers at the inaugural session highlighted the institution’s legacy, its contribution to the Mithila region and its future roadmap.Senior faculty members and alumni spoke about their long association with the college and extended best wishes for its continued development. Dr H D Singh, head of the anaesthesia department and master of ceremony, outlined the legacy of 100 years of DMC.The principal delivered the welcome address, and organising secretary Dr Bijendra Kumar Mishra proposed the vote of thanks.A souvenir for the 101st foundation day, edited by Dr Om Prakash, was released during the event.The celebrations began in the morning on the campus heritage building with the traditional hoisting of the college flag, followed by a ceremonial march past. A scientific session on ‘medical certification of cause of death’ was conducted by faculty members of Tata Memorial Centre, Muzaffarpur, with participation from doctors and postgraduate students.The programme concluded with a cultural event in the evening.
