65-yr-old man killed in Kurukshetra village, accused on the run

Kurukshetra: A 65-year-old man was allegedly murdered in Jogna Khera village of Kurukshetra district on Sunday over an old rivalry.The victim has been identified as Labh Singh of Jogna Khera village. He was allegedly attacked with a spade by fellow villager Surjit Singh (40).On receiving the information, a team from Kurukshetra University (KU) police station reached the spot with forensic and scene-of-crime teams and started the investigation.The KU police station SHO said accused Surjit Singh was on the run and a murder case had been registered against him. “It appears to be a case of an old rivalry between the victim and the accused’s family. The matter is being investigated. The exact reason will be ascertained after the arrest of the accused, Surjit,” said the SHO.“We received the information about 2:45 pm that a fight took place in Jogna Khera village in which one injured person died. I reached the spot and it came to light that Surjit Singh and Labh Singh had a fight. Surjit Singh attacked Labh Singh on the head with a spade and he succumbed to the injuries. We took the body into possession and a post-mortem will be conducted on Monday,” the SHO added.MSID:: 128679996 413 |
