Lucknow: In 13 days, from Feb 6 to Feb 18, 1,162 persons with disabilities were provided job opportunities under an employment campaign organised by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM).Leading companies from different sectors, such as finance, insurance, telecom, retail and marketing, conducted on-the-spot selections through camps, placement drives and rozgar melas.
Candidates were offered diverse positions, including telecallers, machine operators, technical assistants, helpers and retail sales associates, with a monthly salary ranging from Rs 9,000 to Rs 21,000. Several other candidates got jobs in small enterprises such as mobile repairing, tailoring, electrical work, Jan Seva Kendras and dairy farming.The top five districts with the highest number of jobs offered were Fatehpur (99 selections), Amroha (78), Farrukhabad (65), Varanasi (56) and Maharajganj (39).According to officials, UPSDM adopted a proactive ‘human-first’ approach. In cases where contact numbers were unreachable, officials conducted home visits to provide personalised counselling, said a govt spokesperson.Director UPSDM Pulkit Khare said, “The campaign is not limited to providing jobs; it is a decisive step towards leading Divyang youths to a life of dignity and self-reliance.”
