Admissions open at Jamia with 30 new courses

New Delhi: Admissions for the 2026–27 academic session at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) opened on Friday with the university releasing its prospectus, announcing 30 new programmes, the rollout of Multiple Entry Mode under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), expansion of entrance test centres to 11 cities, and reduced fees for foreign students. The prospectus, launched by Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Asif, outlines eligibility criteria, application procedures, entrance examination details, fee structures and tentative timelines for results across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.Among the key additions this year are 30 new programmes spanning languages, sciences, engineering, law and vocational studies. These include B.A. (Hons) in Japanese and German Studies, B.Tech in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence, M.Sc programmes aligned with NEP 2020, new LLM specialisations, M.Tech in Material Science & Technology, and several self-financed and industry-oriented courses. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, JMI will begin admissions under the Multiple Entry Mode for FYUP from this session, allowing greater academic flexibility for undergraduate students. To widen access, the university has added three new entrance test centres — Jaipur, Dehradun and Kishanganj — taking the total to 11 across the country. Existing centres include Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Kolkata, Srinagar, Calicut and Bhopal. The university also said it has reduced fees for foreign students under General and Supernumerary categories and introduced a region-wise differential fee structure for students from SAARC, West Asia, Africa and Latin America.
