Gunshots fired outside former NRI’s house in Kapurthala village

Kapurthala: Gunshots were fired outside the residence of a former NRI in Nangal Lubana village of Bholath sub-division on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The incident was captured on CCTV, which shows two persons opening fire before fleeing the spot. The village has a sizeable NRI population, and the police have named a co-villager settled in the US in connection with the case.Bholath deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Karnail Singh said the house owner, Devinder Singh, who earlier lived in the US and has been residing in the village for about a year, alleged that he had a group call with Jatinder Singh — a co-villager now settled in the US — and others a few days ago, during which he was threatened. The DSP added that Devinder and Jatinder were previously business associates but later fell out, leading to strained relations between the two.
