Patna: A wedding reception at Shahpur village under Gopalpur police station area in Patna turned violent on Sunday night when two brothers were shot at following a land.Police said the victims, Manjeet Kumar and Manish Kumar, were rushed to hospital, where Manish succumbed to his injuries. Manjeet, who sustained critical injuries, has been referred to Patna for advanced treatment.According to eyewitnesses, an argument over six bighas of land escalated suddenly during the function. The accused allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire, triggering panic as guests ran for cover. However, the shooters fled after the attack.City SP (East) Parichay Kumar said officers are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and collecting eyewitness statements to identify the suspects.Gopalpur SHO Amit Kumar said preliminary investigation confirmed that both parties had a dispute over a piece of land. “A heated argument broke out during the reception, after which the accused fired multiple shots. Manish died during treatment, and Manjeet’s condition remains serious. Raids are underway to arrest the accused,” he added.
