CM launches Davem–Sanvordem bridge project

Valpoi: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday laid the foundation stone for a new two-lane bridge connecting Davem and Sanvordem villages in Sattari, in the presence of health minister Vishwajit Rane.The Rs 29.9 crore project, being executed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for the PWD, will feature a two-lane bridge with footpaths on both sides for safer pedestrian movement. The project also includes the construction of approach roads.The new bridge will replace the existing narrow single-lane bridge, improving connectivity for residents and commuters.Sawant said the bridge will ease congestion, enhance safety and reduce travel by 7–8 km for commuters travelling towards Ponda and South Goa. It will also allow motorists to bypass the busy Valpoi market, saving time and fuel. The chief minister said the project would boost local mobility, support economic activity and enhance the quality of life in nearby villages.
