Guwahati: NIT Silchar’s campus turned into a lively cultural hub under the theme “Tribal Tapestry” as the institute hosted Incandescence 2026 from Feb 13–16.The 4-day annual cultural fest highlighted indigenous heritage, diversity, music, and artistic expression, attracting participants and audiences from across the north-eastern region.The fest opened with an address by director Prof Dilip Kumar Baidya, who formally inaugurated the celebrations. The event featured messages from the conveners, acknowledging months of effort and collaboration, followed by a cultural night led by NIT Silchar students. The evening continued with a performance by the Patkai Group and ended with an electrifying set by DJ Prerak.Day 1, themed “Nirvana”, presented events such as Cypher and Indie Unplugged, alongside multiple competitions that brought out strong creative talent. The night segment featured moving performances by Taba Chake and Raman Negi, creating a serene and memorable atmosphere.Participation expanded on Day 2, themed “Thundermarch”, as students from outside the institute join in. Key attractions included a quiz competition evaluated by noted quizmasters, along with Battle of Bands, Cosplay, and Kaladarshan. A Classical Night added a traditional touch, with classical singers Amarendra Chakraborty and Meghraj Chakraborty captivating the audience. In a special SPIC MACAY collaboration, eminent artists Sandip Ghosh and Padmashri Pandit Tejendra Narayan Mazumdar brought further classical depth to the evening. The night then shifted into a more intense zone with a performance by death metal band Godless, before Ukrainian DJ Tasha closed the day with an energetic set.Day 3, “Carpediem”, served as the finale and reflected the fest’s celebratory spirit. Supported by the Myntra Glamfest Tour, the day featured “Glitterati”, a ramp walk showcasing students’ style and confidence. “Komedy Knight” featured stand-up comedian Kullu, adding a lighter note to the closing day. The headline performance by playback singer Javed Ali became the emotional peak of the fest, followed by a final set from DJ Loun, an NIT Silchar alumnus, bringing Incandescence 2026 to a memorable close.
