Bikaner raid seizes 765kg adulterated ghee

Jaipur: The health dept Saturday busted a unit allegedly producing adulterated ghee in Nokha town of Bikaner district and seized 765 kg stock during the raid.Food safety commissioner T Shubhmangala said a team led by additional commissioner Bhagwat Singh inspected Messrs Shri Maruti Food Product at RIICO Industrial Area, Nokha. The owner, Mukesh Pareek, told officials that cream sourced from Gujarat was heated to make ghee, sold under the Today Choice brand at Rs 410–420 per litre.

Officials said the rate was significantly lower than the prevailing market price of around Rs 525 per litre, raising suspicion of adulteration. One sample was collected for testing under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act.In separate action in Bikaner, teams collected samples of namkeen and kesar bati from Messrs Yuvraj Food Product in Phad Bazaar. Additionally, one sample of refined groundnut oil was taken from NUCHEM Food in Khara Industrial Area, Bikaner.
