Four die in freak road accident in Fatehpur

Prayagraj: Four men died in a freak road accident near Mevli turn on Bahua Road in Fatehpur on Friday night, police said.According to an official statement, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families.They said the incident took place at around 10:30 pm when two bikes, carrying two persons each, collided head-on. Following the collision, two persons– Saurabh Dwivedi (18) and Gajraj Pal (32) — fell in the middle on the road and were mowed down by a speeding truck coming from behind. Two suffered critical injuries in the crash. The truck driver escaped from the scene. Lalauli police took the injured– Akash (22) and Umesh Pal (25) — to the community health centre in Ghazipur from where they were referred to Sadar hospital. However, Akash succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Umesh died on the way.
