Jaipur: The health department’s food safety team Saturday destroyed nearly 30,000 kg of expired Amul-branded food products seized earlier this month from a distributor in Kho Nagorian, officials said. The stock, comprising noodles, ketchup, mayonnaise, sauces, sausages and energy drinks, was confiscated on Feb 11 from Messrs Athlete Distributor following a complaint on the 181 portal. Authorities alleged the products had crossed their expiry dates and that efforts were being made to remove original date markings and print fresh ones. Chief Medical Health Officer (Jaipur II) Dr Manish Mittal said the firm’s owner, Gagan Ahuja, produced the govt approval for destruction. A team loaded the expired goods into six trucks and disposed of them at a dumping ground. The company’s authorised representative verified the seized items at the site. During inspection of the sealed warehouse, officials found additional expired stock. “The stock will be destroyed Monday as per directions of senior authorities,” said an official. The warehouse has been resealed until the next destruction exercise is completed.
