Kanpur: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shravan Kumar Singh on Saturday convened a review meeting at the crime office to assess the progress of cases registered in connection with codeine.During the meeting, investigating officers briefed the DCP on various aspects of the cases, including progress of investigation, evidence collection, involvement of accused persons, seizure status and legal proceedings.The DCP directed officers to ensure impartial, transparent and time-bound investigations in each case based on merit. He also asked them to keep case diaries updated and to properly collect and analyse both physical and electronic evidence. Pending actions in the cases should be completed on priority to ensure speedy disposal and effective legal action, he said.He further instructed that in narcotics-related cases, the purity of evidence, forensic examination reports, medical reports, seizure memos and other necessary documents must be properly attached to strengthen prosecution. He emphasised that there should be no laxity or unnecessary delay at any level. At the end of the meeting, all investigating officers were asked to complete quality investigations within the stipulated time frame, submit reports and keep senior officers informed about the updated progress of the cases.
