AHMEDABAD: A 22-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Saturday morning near Royal Akbar Tower on the main road in Juhapura after a dumper that did not have a numberplate hit his scooter at high speed and dragged it.The deceased was identified as Mustakim Sheikh . According to the complainant, Iqbal Shaikh (50), a doctor by profession and the uncle of the deceased, the accident occurred around 7am on Saturday when Mustakim was returning home on a two-wheeler after collecting medicines.“Mustakim attempted to cross the road in front of Royal Akbar Tower, a dumper coming from the Sarkhej side struck the scooter from the front. The impact causedfatal head injuries, and Mustakim died on the spot,” the complainant said.The complainant stated that the dumper did not have a visible numberplate on the front or rear. A number was painted on the side of the vehicle with the last three digits reportedly scratched off, making full identification difficult at the scene.The M-division traffic police registered a case under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others, hurt it caused), 125(B) (act endangering life or personal safety of others, grievous hurt it caused), 281 (rash driving), and also under the Motor Vehicles Act.
