Patna: District magistrate Thiyagarajan S M on Saturday chaired a meeting of the biomedical waste management and district zoonotic committees at the collectorate, directing strict action against health institutions flouting waste disposal norms. The civil surgeon was asked to increase the number of Sangam Mediserve vehicles to improve waste collection. Officials said poultry farms are under daily surveillance, with infection-control training being given to owners. Door-to-door screening for acute respiratory illness has also begun in affected areas to check the spread of disease, said officials.
