Warm spell continues at 34.3°C in Ahmedabad on Feb 21

Ahmedabad: As the lingering influence of the Western Disturbance fades, Amdavadis are feeling the heat. On Saturday, the mercury climbed to 34.3°C, two degrees above the seasonal average. Even the nights offered little respite, as the minimum temperature hovered at a balmy 20.3°C, nearly five degrees higher than what residents usually expect in Feb.According to the IMD, the heat is here to stay. Sunday is expected to mirror Saturday’s warmth. According to IMD data, the mean maximum and minimum temperatures for Feb are 31 and 14.6 degrees. While the state’s afternoon heat is set to hold steady for the next week under the sway of north-westerly winds, there is a silver lining for those missing the winter chill. Starting Monday, a gentle dip of 2-3 degrees in night temperatures is forecast for a three-day stretch, offering a brief, cooler bookend to the month.Across Gujarat, the heat was felt far and wide. While Rajkot was the state’s hotspot at 35.3°C, only Naliya managed to keep its cool, recording the lowest minimum at 15.2°C.
