Man climbs distribution point to restore electricty

Vadodara: A video of a man climbing on an electricity distribution point to restore power supply in a village in Chhota Udepur district has gone viral. A man claiming to be a panchayat member alleged in the video that the man climbed on the pole after repeated complaints did not lead to repair works. The video is said to be of the Ghoghadev village of Chhota Udepur district. The undated video shows a man standing on a distribution point allegedly trying to restore power. The man making the video claims that he is Arvind Rathwa a member of the Ghoghadev village panchayat. Arvind claims that the Umreli Falia in the village has been without electricity for five days. He claims that the villagers had complained at various offices, but the issue was not resolved. He also raises questions about the safety of the man who climbed on the pole to restore power. The video also claimed that the sarpanch of the village had done little to resolve the issue and villagers were frustrated with the state of affairs. Village sarpanch Asha Rathwa said she came to know about the issue only after the video surfaced. “They have not informed me and made the video,” she said. She said that he was not aware if the power supply had been restored. A senior Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) official said that he was not aware about the video. “We will have to check the veracity of the claims in the video,” he said adding that in the past exaggerated or misleading claims had also been made regarding situations.
