Shimla DC orders report on silt hazards in Sutlej in Sunni

Shimla: Shimla deputy commissioner and district disaster management authority chairperson Anupam Kashyap has directed Rajesh Verma, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Sunni, to identify potential dangers caused by silt accumulation in the Sutlej and submit a report promptly.This will enable early commencement of silt removal work. Officials have also been instructed to prepare detailed reports on damage to houses, land, water schemes, powerhouses, roads, sewage lines, and local cowshed. Chairing a review meeting, Kashyap highlighted the seriousness of the issue for Sunni residents, whose homes and lives were at risk.

Meanwhile, Verma has recommended notifying the stretch from Mohal Anu to Mohal Lunsu, near Jhulewala Bridge, as a sensitive area and identified land on the river’s left bank for silt storage and disposal.
