Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman struggling with depression killed her six-year-old son before taking her own life in Yalal, Vikarabad district, on Friday evening. The incident took place around 5 pm. Local police said that it was eight years ago that M Gouramma married Feroz, and they had a son. For the last three years, the couple separated, and she moved to her brother’s house. Ever since she got divorced, she was under depression. She preferred being alone and avoided socialising.On Friday, when her brother came to see her in the room, he found it locked. Despite knocking on the door repeatedly, Gouramma did not respond. When her family pried the door open, they found that the boy had been killed and that she had taken her own life. No suicide note was found. Her family members said that Gouramma might have feared that her son would become alone if she died. “Perhaps, for this reason, she might have killed her son first and then died by suicide,” police said. She worked as a labourer to make a living. The family members did not suspect any foul play. A case was registered under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS and 194 (suspicious death) of the BNNS.“Gouramma used to complain of loneliness and suffered from mental depression. She also used to complain of ill health, such as headache and stomach pain, and regularly consumed tablets,” Yalal police said. Police have launched a probe, and are trying to check her phone to ascertain whether they can get any evidence.
