COIMBATORE: The Q branch of the Delhi police on Saturday arrested six Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur on charges of posting messages supporting Pakistan-based terror outfits on social media platforms. The operation led to the seizure of eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards from the suspects. They were living in Tirupur using forged documents, police said.Acting on specific information about provocative posts and communication with extremist modules operating out of Pakistan, Q branch officers reached Tirupur on Saturday and conducted raids in three locations with the help of the Tirupur police. They arrested Mijanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Ujjal. Investigations revealed that the group had been working in garment units in Uthukuli, Thirumurugan Poondi and Palladam areas.“The suspects were in possession of fake Aadhaar cards, which they used to secure employment and housing. They did not have any valid passports or visas to stay in India,” a senior police official said. The seized mobile phones have been sent for forensic analysis to identify their handlers. The Delhi Q branch is interrogating the six men to determine the extent of their involvement with terror networks and whether they were part of a larger sleeper cell.
