Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Mauritius on his two -day visit, where he was given a grand welcome. Overseas Indians greeted PM Modi with Bihari music. He was received by all ministers, including Mauritius Prime Minister Naveen Ramgulam. PM Modi was awarded Mauritius’s highest civilian honor ‘Grand Commander of the Star’ and ‘of the Indian Ocean’.
Today (March 12), he will attend Mauritius’ National Day celebrations as the chief guest. Mauritius has a historic relationship with India, where about 70% of the population is Indian. This National Day is also associated with Mahatma Gandhi, who gave three important messages to the Indians here in 1901 for education, political empowerment and being related to India.
