Bandhara to quench thirst of industries: Mirabag locals

Margao: As the deadline for the water resources department’s (WRD) promised PowerPoint presentation nears, Mirabag residents opposing the proposed bandhara project intensified their allegations. They claim the project, projected as a water supply augmentation measure, is a sham meant to benefit nearby industries rather than the village.Protest leader Sanket Bhandari alleged that the 2 MLD water shortfall cited by authorities is already being consumed by an industry in the area.“The projected shortfall is fiction. The water is going to industries, not to our homes,” he said, claiming documents support the charge.WRD minister Subhash Shirodkar said department engineers will visit Mirabag on Feb 26, 27, or 28 to present the plan and address villagers’ concerns. “The presentation is ready,” Shirodkar said.
