Chandigarh: Police teams conducted 645 raids and apprehended 236 individuals across the state on the 30th day of the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign on Thursday, taking the total arrests to 10,214, according to an official spokesperson.The spokesperson said Thursday’s action saw preventive action against 79 people, while 121 were verified and released after questioning. Police teams also arrested 12 proclaimed offenders (POs) , the spokesperson added.
The campaign was launched by Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Jan 20. The spokesman said police teams continued their drive against drugs, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 355th day, with 100 drug smugglers arrested on Thursday. They recovered 7.7 kg heroin, 100-gram opium, 6,631 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 8,760 in drug money from their possession.
