Jalore man kills wife, 2 kids with farming tool

Jodhpur: A man allegedly killed his wife and two children with a sharp-edged farming tool Wednesday night at Bhinmal in Jalore district, then informed police early Thursday morning. Police found all three victims lying on a cot with their throats slit at the man’s house. The man at first claimed that somebody had killed his wife and children at night while they slept, but on grilling by police, he admitted to killing all three of them.“We have detained the accused and will begin investigation once the postmortem is done and the bodies are handed over for cremation,” said Bhinmal SHO Rajendra Singh Rajpurohit, adding that, prima facie, the murders were due to some dispute in the family. The SHO said Manglaram (40), a farmer from village Daspa at Bhinmal, called up police Thursday around 6am and said somebody had killed his wife, Dadami Devi (38), daughter Nikku (10), and son Hitesh (7), in the night.“When we rushed to the spot, which was a house on an agricultural farm, we found all 3 victims lying on a cot. Their throats were slit, and there was blood all around, from the cot to the floor of the room,” said the SHO.Bloodstains on Manglaram’s body and clothes directed the police’s suspicion towards him. When grilled, he confessed to killing all three family members using a sharp-edged farming tool called ‘koot’.“The investigation so far has revealed that the husband and wife argued over some issue at night, following which he first killed his wife and then attacked his children, who were sleeping,” said SHO Rajpurohit.“The wife might have cried for help, but due to the absence of people around because of weddings in the village, she might not have been heard,” he added. The couple was married for 20 years. The couple had three sons and one daughter. Their two sons survived as one was out for work in another state, while the other was sleeping with grandparents in another house nearby.
