Corlim man cheated of Rs 1.64 crore in online investment fraud

Panaji: The cybercrime cell of Goa police has apprehended Haryana-resident Pushkar Goyal for being involved in a fraud of Rs 1.6 crore. The thirty-one year-old fraudster was found operating three WhatsApp accounts, using which he committed the fraud between Oct 18, 2025 and Jan 16, 2026.Goyal contacted the victim in Goa through social media and added him to a WhatsApp group, introducing themselves as nDalton Investment Inc partners, associated with Retailer Associations Mumbai.They induced the complainant to invest in upper circuit, promising high return on investment. They made him deposit Rs 1.6 crore through 13 different transactions in different bank accounts, across India, and “cheated the complainant by impersonation using computer sources”, police said.Following technical investigation, suspect Goyal from Faridabad, Haryana, was identified.“It was revealed that the accused were actively involved in operating multiple bank accounts. In particular, he received Rs 28 lakh in one of his bank accounts from the complainant’s bank account. The said alleged bank account has been found to be involved in several cybercrime cases registered in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa, amounting to a total of Rs 2.4 crore,” police said.An offence has been registered under sections of BNS and IT Act, based on a complaint filed by a resident of Corlim, Tiswadi.The arrested accused person is being produced before the court to take police custody. Further investigation is ongoing under the supervision of PI Deepak Pednekar, cybercrime police station, police said.
