Gurgaon: An HR executive with a private company was allegedly attacked with cricket and baseball bats by three men on Tuesday, moments after his car was hit from behind near IMT Manesar.Nitesh Bhatia, a resident of Sector 1 in Manesar, had just left his Munjal Kiriu office in Sector 4 around 6.30pm when his Maruti Baleno was rear-ended by an Alto without a number plate near Sarita Handa Exports. Bhatia said he had slowed at a speed breaker when the Alto crashed into his car.He pulled over a little ahead and got out to check the damage, finding that the rear bumper was broken. The Alto driver first apologised, leading him to believe that the matter would be resolved on the spot.“Yes, the driver initially apologised. I thought we would settle the matter there. But all of a sudden, two other men got down with bats and started abusing me,” Bhatia told TOI.According to him, one of the men carried a baseball bat and another a cricket willow. “They kept hitting me even after I fell on the road. I was shouting for help, it was terrifying. I had never seen them before,” he said.It was only after a few auto-rickshaw drivers and passersby intervened that the attackers fled. Bhatia suffered a deep cut on his left ear that required four stitches, along with injuries to his arms and legs. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Sector 5 of Manesar, and was discharged on Thursday afternoon.“I am still in shock. The mere thought of it disturbs me. The way it happened makes me feel it was much more than just an argument after an accident. As if everything was planned,” he said.Police said they received a medico-legal intimation from the hospital on Tuesday. An ASI and a constable visited the hospital, collected the medico-legal report and recorded Bhatia’s statement.An FIR was registered against unidentified persons at Sector 7 IMT Manesar police station under sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (rash or negligent acts that endanger human life or personal safety), 324(4) (mischief), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of BNS.Police said efforts were on to identify and trace the three accused. “We are examining CCTV footage. We hope to make arrests soon,” an official said.
