Congress to agitate over suspension of 7 councillors

Vadodara: The city unit of the Congress on Wednesday threatened to launch an agitation over the suspension of seven party councillors from the budget session of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).The suspension triggered a controversy during the budget meeting on Wednesday. Congress councillors alleged that they were not allowed to speak at length during the session, while members of the ruling BJP were permitted extended discussions on Tuesday. When Congress councillors objected to this and entered the well of the House to raise their concerns, they were suspended, the party claimed.Addressing the media, city Congress president Rutvij Joshi alleged that the ruling party resorted to suspensions to avoid being exposed. He said the Congress would organize an agitation against the action and was also planning programmes to highlight alleged irregularities by the BJP-led civic body.
