Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi founder-president Kalvakuntla Kavitha announced that she would launch her political party in the first week of May this year. She said her party would contest the next assembly elections and that she would stand either from the Siddipet or Bodhan assembly constituency.Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kavitha said her party’s name would include ‘Telangana‘ and that she could contest from anywhere in the state. She added that her priority was two assembly constituencies. The ex-MP said that Telangana Jagruthi was the main opposition in the state, strongly raising people’s issues. She also stated that they were the principal opposition in the Peddapalli municipality.“Jagruthi will continue to question the Congress, the BJP and the BRS, and the BJP is gradually disappearing in Telangana,” she said.Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi had supported several candidates in the municipal elections, some of whom won in municipalities such as Peddapalli. She added that Jagruthi might form an alliance with another party for the MPTC and ZPTC elections and expressed confidence that they would secure a sizeable number of seats in ZP and other elections. She further stated that their party symbol would be available by the time of the GHMC elections and that they would contest under their own symbol.“Many BRS leaders are in touch with us. After the launch, my party will give equal importance to all sections of society, with a special focus on youth. There is a need for young people to enter politics. We have formed 50 committees to understand people’s issues and are holding various discussions through them. Many BRS leaders are interested in joining our party, and I will reveal the details at the appropriate time,” Kavitha said.Earlier, Kavitha launched a scathing attack on the Congress govt over what she described as its betrayal of RTC workers and its failure to implement clear promises. She demanded that the upcoming Budget session allocate dedicated funds for the implementation of assurances, particularly the long-pending merger of the TGSRTC with the govt. She noted that the RTC merger Bill had already been passed and questioned why the Congress govt was deliberately delaying its implementation. She also criticised chief minister Revanth Reddy, stating that although he had promised the RTC merger before the elections, his govt had completely turned its back on RTC workers after coming to power. She announced the full support of Telangana Jagruthi for the RTC workers’ “Chalo Secretariat” programme on Feb 24 and warned that the organisation would intensify its agitation if the govt continued to ignore the workers’ demands.
