Bhilwara: A father and son were killed and three others seriously injured after their Scorpio overturned while trying to avoid a herd of buffaloes on the Gulabpura–Devli highway near Rajiyas village in Shahpura area Wednesday evening.Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya said five men from Diggi Malpura in Tonk district were travelling to attend a social function at Genhuli village in Kotdi when the accident occurred amid rain. Near Rajiyawas village under Phuliyakala police station limits, buffaloes suddenly strayed onto the highway. In an attempt to avoid them, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
Kajod Singh, son of Kalu Singh, and Ajay Singh, father of Kajod Singh, died on the spot. The injured — Shankar Singh, Vijay Singh and Phoolchand — were admitted to Shahpura hospital for treatment. Police said the vehicle’s doors jammed after the crash, prompting locals to use a JCB machine to rescue the trapped occupants. Soon after, the Scorpio caught fire and was reduced to ashes. The bodies were kept in the mortuary at Shahpura hospital. Post-mortem will be conducted Thursday after relatives arrive.
