Varanasi: Two children drowned after falling into an open well while playing in Golabad village of Chandauli district on Tuesday afternoon. Circle officer, Naugadh, Namendra Kumar Rawat said that Ankush (9) and Harsh (8) went to pluck papayas in the field on Tuesday afternoon along with their sisters Kriti and Nidhi. While playing, both children reached near an open well without a parapet, located at some distance from the field. Due to slipping, both fell into the well. As soon as Ankush and Harsh fell into the well, Kriti and Nidhi raised an alarm. Meanwhile, two villagers Gulshan and Jayprakash arrived at the spot. Both showed courage and jumped into the well to pull out the children. The villagers took both children to the community health centre in a private vehicle, where doctors declared both dead.
