Tuem hospital sees 250–500 patients daily

Mapusa: Two weeks after its inauguration, the GMC-linked Govt Hospital and Research Centre at Tuem is recording an average daily footfall of 250 to 500 patients. Mandrem MLA Jeet Arolkar inspected the hospital’s functioning on Tuesday.At present, the facility conducts minor surgeries and offers outpatient consultations. Arolkar said that operation theatres (OTs) are expected to become operational within the next four to five months.

To manage the rising number of patients, he said additional ambulances will be stationed at the hospital.The mortuary is also expected to be operational within the next three to four months. Addressing mobile connectivity, Arolkar said a site has been identified for installing a mobile tower to resolve issues.Currently, OPDs are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with GMC doctors available for consultation.
