Mapusa: A day after a protest by locals against illegal spas and wellness centres operating in Arambol, police rescued seven women and arrested five foreign nationals for overstaying. Besides, three more were arrested for operating a prostitution racket.During the crackdown at Khalchawada, Ugandan nationals, Sandra Namwaje, Marget Kyakuwade, Zahara Nasanga, Phionah Mubezi, and Shanita were arrested. They were transferred to a detention centre for foreigners in Mapusa. Police said the five foreign women were allegedly caught soliciting customers and failed to show their travel documents.Sanju Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, î –Shibani Das from West Bengal, and Paresh î –Bhati from Gujarat were arrested under the provisions of BNS and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.Police said the three men were involved in procuring and inducing women into prostitution. The seven rescued women were transferred to a protective home.In a separate action, on Monday, patrolling officers arrested another Ugandan national, Bangi Agnes Nambalirwa for overstaying.
