CM Vishnudev Sai invited the historical ‘Goncha Mahaparva’ of Bastar

Raipur. The delegation of Goncha Mahaparva Organizing Committee presented courtesy under the leadership of Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev in his residence complex tonight from CM Vishnu Dev Sai. The delegation invited the Chief Minister to attend Goncha Mahaparva held at Divisional Headquarters Jagdalpur. He said that this festival, which has been celebrated continuously for more than six hundred years, is a symbol of social harmony and love in Bastar.

The longest lasting festival after Bastar Dussehra has started with the Chandan Yatra from June 11. The representatives informed that under the festival, Netrootsav Puja will be organized on 26 June and Shri Goncha Rath Yatra on 27 June. On July 5, Mahaparva will conclude with Bahuda Goncha Rath Yatra. On this occasion, the delegation honored Chief Minister Shri Sai by offering ‘Tupaki’ according to the tradition of Bastar.

It is noteworthy that Goncha Mahaparva has a centuries -old tradition of running Tupaki. The tribals of Bastar prepare the poli from the bamboo tube, which is pressed by pouring the fruit of a particular plant, causing a sound like firecrackers. Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed his gratitude for the invitation and greeted Goncha Mahaparva.
