Gang of child lifters busted; 2-yr-old rescued, four arrested

Varanasi: The GRP of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar Junction in Chandauli district busted an organised gang of child lifters operating from Ara district in Bihar by arresting four of its members and rescuing a 2-year-old boy, police said on Tuesday. The child was stolen from PDDU Nagar Junction on Feb 11 and rescued on the same day from Muzaffarpur with the help of RPF and an NGO, Association for Voluntary Action (AVA).Deputy SP GRP Kunwar Pratap Singh on Tuesday said that the joint team succeeded in nabbing Jitendra Kumar of Aurangabad, Pawan Prasad of Rohtas, Manish Kumar Sharma of Buxar, and Madhu Kumari of Ara, all from Bihar, after rescuing Divyanshu (2). The rescued child was later handed over to the Child Welfare Centre DDU for further necessary action in presence of the his parents. The four accused were booked under Section 137 and 143 of BNS, under Section 77 of Juvenile Justice Act and Sections 21 and 22 of NDPS Act. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they lived in separate rented rooms in Ara district of Bihar but worked together to kidnap children. After lifting a child, especially from a railway station, they would take the baby to Muzaffarpur and sell for Rs 1 lakh to a man identified as Naseem, who works at a nursing home, and a woman named Khushboo. They admitted to have sold children to Naseem about eight times in the past.After lifting children, the gang members would dress them in new clothes, feed them milk mixed with a narcotic medicine named Alprascen 0.5mg to make them fall asleep. They later sell the children for their financial gain.
