Ajmer: Nearly three months after a minor girl was found hanging in a field hut in Roopangarh, district police Tuesday said the death was a case of attempted rape and murder staged as suicide. The main accused, Nolaram Bagaria (23), was arrested after forensic analysis matched his DNA with samples collected from the victim. A minor allegedly involved in the crime has been detained. The girl’s body was discovered on Nov 11 last year in a room constructed in an agricultural field at Mordi ki Sarhad village. Police said her feet were touching the ground, raising suspicion. The body was sent for postmortem and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team collected biological and physical evidence from the spot. Additional SP (Rural) Deepak Kumar said investigators analysed mobile location data, examined nearly 50 CCTV footages from the surrounding area and questioned multiple suspects. The accused allegedly gave inconsistent statements and initially refused to provide a DNA sample. Forensic examination later confirmed the presence of his skin cells on the victim’s body. Police said Bagaria fled after suspicion mounted but was subsequently traced and arrested. During the investigation, he allegedly befriended the victim’s father and attempted to influence him to lodge complaints against police with senior authorities. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he and the detained minor tried to sexually assault the girl. When she resisted, he allegedly strangled her and staged the scene to resemble suicide. Police said charges of murder and rape have been invoked based on forensic and circumstantial evidence.
