Prayagraj: Ahead of UP Board High School and Intermediate examinations beginning Feb 18, the Board directed schools to correct immediately pending errors in students’ subject combinations and gender codes to ensure they were allowed to appear in the exams.Board secretary Bhagwati Singh, however, warned strict action would be taken against principals who failed to rectify mistakes despite multiple opportunities.Board clarified that since district-wise and centre-wise question papers had been dispatched, any subject corrections must be made carefully so that students were permitted to sit for revised subjects. Approval for such corrections must be obtained from the regional offices of additional secretary concerned by Mar 20 in all cases.Earlier, Board activated its website several times to allow principals to correct errors in students’ academic details online in the interest of students. Offline applications were also accepted through regional offices for remaining discrepancies. Despite that, complaints surfaced from some districts of unresolved subject and gender code errors. Board termed this negligence on the part of principals and directed district school of inspectors to initiate action where necessary.Special instructions were issued regarding gender code errors affecting exam centre allotment. In cases where girls were marked mistakenly under wrong gender and allotted distant boys’ centres, officials were told to shift them to centres designated for girls from their schools. Similarly, boys marked as girls must be assigned to appropriate centres. Board directed authorities to ensure strict compliance so that no student was put to inconvenience.
