MSU’s applied chemistry department gets 40L lab upgrade

Vadodara: In a boost to industry–academia collaboration, the Department of applied chemistry at the faculty of technology and engineering, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU), on Tuesday inaugurated a renovated MSc laboratory developed under the CSR initiative of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.The facility was upgraded through an in-kind contribution worth Rs 40 lakh. University officials said the renovation marks a significant step towards strengthening academic infrastructure and fostering a more research-oriented learning environment.

The initiative was catalysed by alumnus Piyush Parekh (batch of 2001), currently manager – R&D (ADL department) at Sun Pharma. The revamped lab is equipped with modular furniture, upgraded utilities, improved drainage systems and enhanced safety features, and is designed to provide a modern and secure environment for advanced chemical experimentation.The laboratory was inaugurated by Prashant Kane, senior vice-president and R&D head at Sun Pharma; Dr Ajay Khopade, vice-president – formulation R&D and chairman of the CSR committee; Prof Dhanesh Patel, dean of the faculty; and C K Modi, head of the department.
