Mapusa: Authorities have fast-tracked safety measures on the road to the Dattatreya Temple in Assagao after an auto-rickshaw driver and his passenger had a narrow escape from a mishap.The incident occurred when a parked rickshaw lost control and rolled into a roadside trench on Tuesday.While the driver and a female passenger sustained minor injuries, the incident has sparked concerns regarding the stretch’s safety. A crane was deployed to retrieve the vehicle.Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, along with PWD and traffic cell officials, visited the site to inspect the hazard. Lobo said the installation of crash barriers along the vulnerable stretch would start soon. Local authorities, including Assagao sarpanch Hanumant Naik, said the slope near DMC College has become increasingly prone to accidents.
