Congress leader Kuldeep KD alleged that the BJP govt had issued ration cards before elections, but after coming to power, cancelled more than 10 lakh ration cards, effectively depriving poor families of their basic food security. He said India had reduced tariffs on agricultural products for the US and opened its markets, which would further increase pressure on soybean and oilseed farmers. The protest saw participation from Meham MLA Balram Dangi, former minister Subhash Batra, senior leader Chakravarti Sharma, along with Congress urban and rural district presidents, former candidates, block presidents, Youth Congress members, and workers from various Congress cells.
