Elderly man objects to dog defecating outside house, attacked

Ludhiana: Sarabha Nagar police have filed a case against a photographer, his wife and their aide for allegedly assaulting a 69-year-old man and threatening him with a gun following an argument over dog waste outside the victim’s house. The incident occurred in Aadarsh Colony, Barewal, after the elderly man objected to the accused woman’s dog defecating and urinating outside his home.According to the complaint filed by the elderly man, who requested anonymity, the incident took place on Feb 2 when he was alone at home. His son was admitted in a hospital at the time, and other family members were with him. The complainant stated that he stepped out of the house for some work when he saw the accused woman, Aman Kaur, standing outside with her pet dog. When he objected to the dog soiling the area, an argument broke out between them.He alleged that the woman then called her husband, asking him to come to the spot. Minutes later, as the elderly man was leaving for some work, the accused intercepted him. The complainant stated that he was attacked with an iron rod and threatened with a gun by the accused.The complainant said the family could not immediately approach the police as his son was hospitalised. After their son’s discharge, they filed a formal complaint.ASI Ajitpal Singh, investigating officer at Sarabha Nagar police station, said police have booked the accused — Shanudeep Singh, his wife Aman Kaur, both residents of Dhandra Market on Barewal Road, and their aide Varinder Singh of Sarabha Nagar under Sections 304 (snatching), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 3(5) (criminal act by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Police said the accused will be arrested.
