Action directed against arms owners failing to renew licence

Kanpur: Divisional commissioner Vijayendra Pandian on Monday directed the district magistrate Kanpur to prepare a list of arm licence holders who failed to renew their licences during the last five years and to ensure necessary proceedings as per rules against them.Pandian visited the collectorate and reviewed record maintenance, progress of cases and working methodology, and gave instructions to ensure transparency and timeliness.During the inspection, the arms section officers said that there were 39,318 arms licence holders in the district. The commissioner directed the officials to take action against those who were not interested in renewing their licences.At the chief revenue accountant’s office, the commissioner reviewed the biggest revenue defaulters of the district and instructed recovery through a campaign.On the public hearing system, the DM presented details of the waiting room and facilities available for complainants. The commissioner also reviewed the progress of applications related to IGRS, caste certificate, residence certificate, fishing lease and pottery art lease. ADM (Finance and Revenue) Vivek Chaturvedi, ADM (LA) Santosh Kumar Rai, ADM (Civil Supplies) Rajesh Kumar, SDM Sadar and joint magistrate, and other concerned officers were present. tnn
